For those who have or are playing with Quins Amateurs senior teams, you eligible to join Harlequin Players Association (HPA). This is an organisation run by ex players for ex players from professional and amateur days as wells the Amateurs RC with the aim of arranging events to enable current and former players to meet up and yarn about the old days and old Laws.
Myles Woodley (firstname.lastname@example.org 07778 407989) is our club representative and can be contacted with any questions. To join you just need to email Myles and he will send a current application. It is free for current players and £10 per annum if you no longer put on the boots in anger.
The benefits are:
Belonging to a group that may enable you to meet up with your fellow ex players or meeting some older and wiser ex players from days gone by.
Regular email newsletter about events and news.
Trustees suite in the Ethiad stand at the Stoop has been made available for Founder and HPA members. This is a wonderful and new facility. There is a cash bar, good views of the pitch and comfortable seating. To start with, there will be no food available. However, if as the season progresses there is sufficient demand, this will be reviewed. Access is limited because of capacity constraints. This is done on a match by match and first come first served basis. As your HPA membership card will not get you into the suite, you will need to register on email@example.com This should ideally be done two weeks before each home match. You will then be sent a confirmation email 1 week prior to each fixture. You will be able to collect your ticket for the lounge from the Eithiad reception. This will only gain you access to the lounge once you are in the Stoop - you still need a match ticket or membership card to gain access to the Stoop, however there are limited number of free tickets for the game in the box (currently about 20) and these can be applied for via the firstname.lastname@example.org. email. The aim is to give as many Founder/HPA members the opportunity to use the suite. We really want to make this a meeting point in the ground for ex players of all decades to meet and mingle.
Forthcoming events are as follows:
Rugby World Cup Reunion, October 16th 2015
There will be a reunion in the Wakefield Bar on the evening of the Wasps match. It starts at 17:30 on Friday October 16th. There will be a party over from Melbourne Quins and I am sure there will HPA members there from abroad over for the RWC. So it is likely to be busy and if you cannot show your HPA card you may not get in. Don’t forget you need a match ticket to get into the ground.
RAC Lunch, November 6th 2015
Our annual Lunch will be at the RAC, Pall Mall, on Friday November 6th. The price is £75, the same as last year. We sit down for dinner at 13:00 and the bar is open from 12:00. Let Myles know if you are interested.
