Third time lucky

Saturday's game saw three changes of oppo with the 1s playing first Bulldogs, then Battersea Ironsides (both of whom lost their pitches to the weather) before finally agreeing a game with Windsor 4s. Not ideal preperation and strange that the Windsor boys' shirts all had "Third XV" written on them but there we go.

Once again we has a fantastic turn out (cheers guys) and were playing a couple of guys for the first time. Congrats to Luke and Matt - great to see you run out for the 1s. As has become the norm this season we also had a number of changes from the last game. Inevitably these changes meant that we started slowly and against an organised Windsor team this was bound to show on the score sheet. However our scrum and lineouts were working well.

It was no surprise therefore that our two scores came from the set piece - Matt Forrest capping his first game for the 1s with a burrow over from short range and Tom Cormie sniping well to score from a 5m scrum.

All in all it was a decent run out against a more organised oppo which could have been easily improved with better decision making and playing together more as a team. All of this comes from training together
