Harlequin Amateurs record the biggest home win of the season to push for a top draw in the play offs.

After a break last week due to the opposition not being able to raise a side, it was obvious that Quins were ready and raring to get back into the swing of the league games.

Fielding one of the strongest sides of the season and with a full compliment of subs Quins were confident of recording the fourth consecutive league win.

Civil Service Barbarians however were weakened, only managing to get a flat 15 out with not much experience in the backs.

Quins scored early on through George Jacques playing some good process and some good lines unlocked the Baabaas defence.

As it turned out this was a marker for the rest of the match with Alec Smail then ran a great line to score his first of the match.

Then it was the turn of the forwards turn to get involved with a classic move of a prop hanging on the wing, Dave Love finished of an over lap to score his third of the season.

The confidence was now up and the offloading game came into play, a wonderful offload from Mike Watson put the skipper Andy Crew through a big gap, he looked to be tackled just short but with a big reach he managed to place the pall on the line.

After some extended pressure from the forwards Alex Smail going in under the posts soon after with a move straight off the training ground, all the more impressive as it later turned out he had received a concussion moments earlier. He was soon after subbed off and went to hospital,we all hope you're okay mate. Replacing him was the Harlequins black sheep, Angus Munns, surely it would just be a quiet return.

Paul Hibbert in typical scrum half fashion ignored an easy 2 on 1 pass and dummied the defender on the try line to score his second try of the season.

So on his return to the fold it didn't take Angus long to get on the score sheet, unfortunately Quins sustained another injury soon after with Mike Watson suffering a head on head collision, he left the field and a big reshuffle in team was needed. With James Welsh replacing Mike Watson, Ed Barrett moving to hooker, Sam Asfahani moved from back row to second row and Angus moving from outside centre to back row.

So the first half finished 43-0.

The second half was much of the same with Gus scoring 5 more tries with some great individual effort including a charge down and 2 chip and chases. George Jacques also managed to score near the end by running a love line straight through a gap.

The game finished 83-0 a great effort not just to score 83 points but not to concede a single point was a great testament to the side. That is the end of the league fixtures for 2013, Quins have two more in the regular season, next year we also see the start of the cup competition and at the end of the season the play offs.

This Wednesday we are having a truncated training session and finishing it off with a first team Christmas Social. We will also endeavour to have a friendly next Saturday so please update your availability.
