Harlequins Win on the Road
Harlequins secured their first win away from home to jump into the top 4.
After last weeks resounding win at home Harlequins travelled up to Uxbridge to face a side that always come to play and can compete with anybody.
Ad admin cock up meant that the veteran centre Wally was unavilable. Due to other absentees Quins were left with a only 16 players and with their arm forced had to play Si Rowland at 12 instead of 2nd row, but reuniting the 10-12 partnership with George Jaques from a couple of seasons ago albeit the wrong way around.
Unfortunately my memory is a bit fuzzy now, a few beers, a week and another game of rugby have caused me to forget most of the details of the game, so this will be a very short match report.
Quins scored 2 tries early on with one conversion from George Jaques to lead Uxbridge 0-12. Uxbridge hit back after the restart to score near the posts, with the ball repeatedly falling off the tee, their kicker tried to drop kick and sent it wide, 5-12.
2 more tries before half time and one more conversion saw the half time score 5-24.
The second half was much like the first, with Harlequins score 3 more time with one conversion, but the Uxbridge forwards who toiled away for the whoe match managed to get themselves over for another uncoverted try. The final score was 10-41. With a hat-trick to Alec Smail, and 1 try a piece for Will Flaherty, Paul Hibbert, Ben Morris and George Jaques who also scored 3 conversions.
Man of the Match went to Jake Searle for his great shift around the park and his lineout dominance. Dick of the Day went to Cameron Gray who had to use are one and only sub 3 minutes into the game when he tweaked his hamstring.
