In blustery but sunny conditions, Quilberquintons travelled down the A3 on Sunday to face Havant GU14s for their second match of the season.

With several first time starters and players in new positions, there was an experimental feel to the lineup but all the girls should hold their heads high after a strong overall performance.

After a cagey first quarter, including a disallowed try for Sophie just stepping into touch in the in-goal area after a typical mazy run, and the teams exchanging tries the scores were level at two tries apiece early in the third quarter.

Stalemate ensued until the final quarter when Guilberquinton's were able to retake the lead and stretch ahead, with some powerful forward dominated play. A couple of real team tries with multiple passes and great support play shows that there is some promise ahead for the season and the girls are already playing well together, despite not yet knowing all their teammates names (or is it just the parents who can't remember everyone?!).

A strong finish and a 5 tries to 2 victory!

Teddington's Pamela took her first start at hooker and showed no fear in the front row, despite her diminutive stature! In fact, such a good performance she was named 'Forward of the Match' for the cluster.

Post-match tea and some real hospitality from Havant in the clubhouse was much appreciated and we look forward to seeing them again.
