How do we improve on perfection? Having won 18 league matches from 18 this season, Harlequin Amateurs are looking for a Head Coach to take them into the 19/20 season and beyond.
What you’ll be doing
We run two Senior teams (plus a competitive Vets squad) and need a Head Coach to oversee our continued development.
Overall, the Head Coach’s responsibilities will be:
Match day leadership
Building on a highly successful 2018/19 season, each Saturday the coach will be part of a strong leadership team who are keen to be more than competitive in a new league.
Oversee our continued growth
We plan to return to the RFU leagues in the near future and keep a competitive 2nd XV in the Merit Tables.
Devise and implement training
Starting in mid-July until the end of the season (currently Wednesdays 7:30-9pm). To include fitness/S&C where required.
Ensure that all members of the squad are engaged
The Senior squad is a widely varied mix of long-standing players and those who have never picked up a rugby ball before.
Devise player-specific training where required
Like many amateur teams, we have players trying new positions so need a coach who can help guys adapt to the new needs.
Aid the transition of Youth players into the Senior Squad
Having created Mini/Youth section in recent years, we are on track to having a Colts team in the next couple of seasons.
What we’re looking for
Put simply an RFU Level2-qualified coach with proven experience of working with Senior Men’s teams. The expectation is that you will therefore have:
• Improved a Level 9/10 team to achieve frequent promotion
• Worked with players new to rugby to develop basic skills (passing, tackling, etc)
• Integrated Youth players into the Senior setup
• Fostered an environment of mutual respect and trust both amongst players and between players and coaches
• A demonstrable interest in your own continuous development
What we’re offering
Whilst this is a paid role (exact details to be confirmed with the successful applicant), we truly believe that Harlequin Amateurs can offer so much more than comparable clubs.
Our exceptional relationship with Harlequins means that we benefit from resources unavailable to other clubs at our level; be it the support of coaches from the pro club or our annual game at the Stoop.
The Senior Squad is built around a core of players who are a tight, close-knit group often found socialising together outside of the team. There is also a wider family feel to the club with matches supported by several wives, girlfriends and children.
For more information about this role, please contact our Director of Rugby Brian Holland at email@example.com.
