Mighty Mini Quins take lessons to heart

The U12 Minis welcomed the start of their competitive season on a cold but bright Remembrance Sunday. With three teams coming to the Broom Road Campus to play in a slightly convoluted format, Mini Quins opened the proceedings against new opponents, Regent's Park Royals. The green shirted Royals had traveled from NW1 a few players short, so three Quins stepped forward to bolster their numbers. Although they made a might contribution to the traveling side, the Royals were no match for the Mighty Quins, who excelled from 1-12 to achieve a resounding 7 try to 2 victory.
With Owen, Barney, Aran and James quickly establishing themselves as the forward powerhouse, Quins demonstrated that they have got a good grip of the basic skills of the scrum, rucks and mauls. Gabriel impressed at scrum-half with his rapid and accurate distribution, as well as his terrorising of his opposite number and Cash, Ollie and Drummond were able to make the hard yards around the fringes and through the midfield. Josh and Guru made valuable contributions out wide, while Ted, Alex and Finlay used their size and strength well to keep Royals on the back foot.
It was an outstanding all round performance in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd and it seems like all those September and October mornings are paying off.
